Trend of the Week:
You’ve seen these on this blog before… we at GH are unanimously huge fans of the modern version of the world’s most basic shoe. Perhaps the best-known trendy sneaker is the Chuck Taylor All-Star, but stylish tennies have evolved quite a bit since the debut of the basketball player’s hi-top. Nike dunks became a symbol of basketball culture and made icons out of players like Michael Jordan (see Nike Air Jordans shoes!). Sneakers are having a comeback with the arrival of runway styles everywhere, from Marc by Marc Jacobs to Isabel Marant to Ash to Rick Owens to Alexander McQueen to Maison Martin Margiela, and so on!
Maison Martin Margiela has recreated the hi-top in a way that speaks to a more mature, understated fashion set: we love the subtlety of the dark laces and fabric, yet the denim is an uncommon choice with which to upholster a sneaker. Classic Margiela style! You will never have to worry about wearing the same sneakers as Kevin Garnett…
We’ve compiled a collage of pieces that will partner beautifully with the MM6 by Maison Martin Margiela sneakers. Add some great jewelry for a little spunk! (There are still one or two Shourouk pieces hiding around the store…) Main rule? Avoid dark denim pants. That’s about all there is to it!
